After his first season as a professional coach saw the Halifax Wanderers establish a fluid and clearly identified style of play – and reach playoffs – it’s no surprise to see Patrice Gheisar’s stay out east extended through to the end of 2025.
The 48-year-old’s contract extension was confirmed by the Wanderers today following a year that saw him establish club records for most wins in a season (11), most points (42), most goals scored (39), and fewest goals conceded (32).
“I couldn’t be more pleased with the impact Patrice has had in his first year with the club,” declared Wanderers President Derek Martin. “We still have so much we want to achieve as a club, and I am excited to continue working with Patrice to reach our goals.”
Gheisar’s first year in the CPL saw him earn a coach of the year nomination, while his trust in youth prospects saw him crack into TransferRoom’s Top Ten Trust In Youth rankings for coaches in the Americas.
Also confirmed in the announcement is that the former Vaughan Azzurri and Seneca College head coach will retain his existing support staff, which includes assistant coaches Jorden Feliciano and Jed Davies, along with goalkeeper coach Jan Michael Williams.
