Men’s Soccer: U SPORTS Rankings October 3, 2023
This week’s song and dance continue as everyone jockey’s for position in the USports Top 10. Things more or less have remained the same with UBC and Montreal flipping places, but the bottom three have changed with MAC, UQTR and UNB dropping out of the top 10 this week and Guelph with a pair of wins over Windsor this past weekend (pictured below), STFX and UVIC entering the top 10.
For STFX, they are back after dropping out last week and appear to be the team looking to challenge Cape Breton’s men. Their third straight with with a pair this weekend, the X-Men had a big home win on Friday night, dropping the Mount Allison Mounties 6-1 on a chilly evening at StFX Stadium and Saturday night, StFX completed the six-point weekend, thanks in part to a 4-0 victory over the UPEI Panthers at StFX Stadium.
Not to be out done, the Cape Breton Capers scored a decisive 5-1 victory over the visiting UPEI Panthers Friday evening, and then secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over the Mount Allison Mounties Saturday night on home turf at Ness Timmons Field.
In Canada West, UBC regained their number 1 ranking over Montreal by continuing to be dominant with an 8-0-2 record. Coach Mike Mosher’s men appear to be firing on all cylinders, but new number 10 ranked UVIC is pushing the Thunderbirds hard in second place in the Pacific Division with a 7-1-2 record and a pair of wins this past weekend over UNBC.
Here’s the rankings for this week.
