The Department of Athletics and Recreation is excited to announce that Neil Wilson has been hired as the next head coach of the Warriors Women’s Soccer program. Wilson takes over as head coach of the women’s team after serving as an assistant coach of men’s soccer since 2020 where he led the recruiting efforts, video breakdown, and introduced statistical analysis.

“We are thrilled to have Neil step in as our head coach of women’s soccer,” said associate director, Brian Bourque. “Neil has been an integral part of elevating our men’s program to the next level and will bring a lot of energy and passion to our women’s team next season. Having familiarity with the OUA and U SPORTS is a big asset and Neil’s experience in recruiting and analytics will help our women’s team reach the next level.”

In addition to his coaching experience with the Warriors, Wilson coaches for the Burlington Soccer Club where he is a staff coach at the League 1 level. Wilson also has experience coaching various leagues and teams at Waterloo and Oakville Minor Soccer. Wilson is UEFA-A trained and is currently working towards obtaining a Master in High Performance Football through the MBP School of Coaches in Spain.

“This is a very exciting time for me to be able to lead an up-and-coming women’s soccer program at Waterloo,” commented Wilson. “I have worked with a lot of the players in the past and know they are on the verge of a breakout season. There is a lot of talent on our team, and I look forward to using my knowledge and skills to make our women’s team a contender.”

Wilson will spend the next few months getting to know his student-athletes while looking forward to getting back on the pitch and training for the upcoming 2023 OUA season.
