2021-22 MCAC volleyball and soccer champions to compete for CCAA national title

The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association unanimously voted in favour of the MCAC champion competing in the CCAA soccer and volleyball national championships at their annual general meeting last week.
“I would like to thank all of the Athletic Directors from our MCAC member schools, both present and past, who have worked towards this vision of being a member conference in the CCAA. I have been involved in the MCAC for many years and I know that this vision was cast even before my time. To be able to see it come to fruition is very rewarding,” said Scott Masterson, MCAC president.
Masterson says all MCAC member schools are excited to provide their student athletes and Manitobans with an opportunity to compete for a CCAA national championship.
“The CCAA puts on great championships and the experience for our athletes and coaches will be something they will remember for the rest of their lives,” he said.
Beth Clark, athletic director at Assiniboine Community College, was also unanimously voted in as the CCAA national women’s volleyball chair — the league’s first national convener.
Clark played volleyball at the University of Regina, played with the Canadian national team in 2010 and 2011 and also played professionally overseas before taking on the athletic director position at ACC in 2013.
“Volleyball has always been a big part of my life. The emotions, memories and relationships forged through sport last a lifetime,” said Clark.
“I am honoured to be able to give back to the sport I love as chair for the CCAA. As a new member, this role gives our league an opportunity to really integrate into the CCAA, behind the scenes, through administration, not only by attending the competition.”
The MCAC is looking forward to compete for its first CCAA soccer and volleyball championship this upcoming season.

Its mission is to foster the development of the student-athlete through the administration and promotion of intercollegiate athletics as part of the education experience and provide a leadership role in the development of sport in Manitoba. MCAC student athletes compete in basketball, futsal, soccer and volleyball. Member institutions include Assiniboine Community College (Brandon), Brandon University (Brandon), Canadian Mennonite University (Winnipeg), Providence University College (Otterburne), Red River College (Winnipeg) and Université de Sainte-Boniface (Winnipeg).
