FC Edmonton hires Eric Newendorp as new club president and GM

There’s a new man in charge at FC Edmonton.
On Monday, team owners Tom Fath and Dave Fath announced the hiring of Eric Newendorp as the club’s new president and general manager.
Newendorp, a 52-year-old native of Moore, Oklahoma, will immediately assume his duties with FC Edmonton.
“We’re very excited to welcome Eric to the club,” Tom Fath said in a media release.
“He brings an incredible range of experience in this industry to our organization, and we are confident he will provide the exact kind of leadership we need to get us where we want to be and help the team reach our goals, both on and off the pitch.”
This appointment sees Newendorp take over as GM from Jeff Paulus, who stepped down as the Eddies’ coach and GM on Sept. 21.
Paulus parted ways with Edmonton after it finished last place at this summer’s Island Games in Prince Edward Island where the Eddies failed to qualify for the second round, going winless in their seven opening-round matches with six losses.
The club has yet to hire a new coach to replace Paulus, which presumably will be one of the first orders of business for Newendorp.
“I am very humbled and honoured to be a part of the FC Edmonton family, and the Edmonton community,” Newendorp said.
“I recognize that this is a tremendous opportunity, and I am extremely grateful to Tom and Dave for trusting me with this great responsibility. I’m ready to get to work doing whatever it takes to build a club for which our players, coaches, sponsors, Edmontonians, and most importantly our fans and supporters can be proud.”
Newendorp has over 25 years of experience as an executive in the sports and entertainment business, and has spent time in Major League Soccer, the United Soccer League, and the North American Soccer League.
He also previously served as GM of Rayo OKC of the NASL, and vice president of sales and analytics for Tulsa Roughnecks (now FC Tulsa) of the USL.

Good morning Eric,
Thank you for the email and information.
The website focus was actually meant to be fairly narrow. It is geared towards the Postsecondary Soccer coach as the description page has stated. Unlike other coaching sites right now, the site may eventually be a pay site, but the issue is that once it becomes a “pay for use site” then the content becomes much more difficult to acquire.
I will take a look at your platform today and get back to you shortly after that.
