2024 ACAC Women’s Futsal Coaches of the Year

North Female Coach of the Year | Niels Slotboom | Keyano Huskies:
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce Niels Slotboom of the Keyano College Huskies has been named the ACAC Women’s Futsal North Division Coach of the Year.
During the 2024 ACAC Futsal season, Slotboom led his squad to a 10-0-0 record as they topped the North Division standings. Included with their perfect regular season was a +46 goal differential. Their regular season featured four clean sheets and five other games where they allowed a single goal.
In his third season of coaching with the Soccer and Futsal Huskies, Slotboom has brought unprecedented success to the program, overseeing them capturing the team’s first Gold Medal in Women’s Futsal in 2023 as well as a Silver Medal in the outdoor season in 2023.
“It brings me great pleasure to extend heartfelt congratulations to Coach Slotboom on his remarkable achievement of being named the 2024 ACAC Women’s Futsal North Coach of the Year,” Jonathan Lambert, Director of Athletics & Recreation at Keyano College, said. “Neils’ exceptional leadership, strategic acumen, and unwavering dedication have undoubtedly propelled his team to unprecedented heights.
“His passion for the sport and commitment to excellence can be seen in all that he does for the student athletes in the Futsal program. Neils’ coaching prowess and positive influence on his student athletes are truly commendable, and this ACAC award is a testament to his outstanding contributions to Women’s Futsal. We are immensely proud to have Neils as a cornerstone of our athletic community and eagerly anticipate his continued success in the future.”
This prestigious award will be recognized at the 2023 ACAC Men’s Futsal Championship hosted by Portage College in Lac La Biche, AB.
South Female Coach of the Year | John Talerico | SAIT Trojans:
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is proud to announce John Talerico of the SAIT Trojans has been named the ACAC South Division, Female Futsal Coach of the Year.
After a very successful outdoor soccer season, John led the SAIT Trojans to a 9-0-1 record in regular season. The Trojans season was highlighted by conceding only eight goals in league play, while managing to score 83. The Trojans placed at the top of the south division standings and go into the ACAC Futsal Championships #1 in the South.
“We cannot think of a more deserving coach than John for this award. He leads his team with confident & grace and instills a work ethic that cannot be compared. John has built a culture of excellence and a feeling of family within with women’s futsal team and we are lucky to have him as part of the Trojans organization.
