ST. CLAIR’S NIZAM HEADLINES OCAA MEN’S SOCCER AWARDS

TORONTO – Moussa Nizam (Windsor) of St. Clair College is the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Men’s Soccer Player of the Year.
The second-year forward was the West Division Scoring Champion with 13 goals in 10 regular season matches as the Saints finished third in a competitive West Division with a record of 7-2-1. Nizam had five multiple goal matches, including a hat trick in a 5-1 victory over the Mohawk Mountaineers on Sept. 23. Nizam receives other honours as well, including Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian and West Division League First-Team All-Star.
The East Division Player of the Year is Jacob Ball (Kingston) of St. Lawrence College. The second-year forward is the OCAA and East Division Scoring Champion with 17 goals in 10 matches as the Surge finished in third place in the East Division with a 6-2-2 record. Ball receives other honours as well, including CCAA All-Canadian and East Division League First-Team All-Star.
The West Division Player of the Year is Exosse Kadiebue (Congo) of Humber College. The second-year forward led the Humber squad with 10 goals in eight matches as the Hawks finished second in the West Division with a 7-1-2 record. Kadiebue receives other honours as well, including CCAA All-Canadian and West Division League First-Team All-Star.
The OCAA Rookie of the Year is Ricardo Alvarado (Cambridge) of Conestoga College. The midfielder/forward scored eight goals in 10 matches to help lift the Condors to a perfect 10-0 record and a West Division championship. In addition to being named West Division Rookie of the Year, Stojanovic is also a West Division League Second-Team All-Star.
The East Division Rookie of the Year is Matthias Broomes (Whitby) of George Brown College. The forward was second in the East Division in scoring with 13 goals in nine games. Broomes is also an East Division League First-Team All-Star.
George Brown’s John Williams is the OCAA Coach of the Year and a nominee for CCAA Coach of the Year. The Huskies ran the table with a perfect 10-0 record to win the East Division crown, scoring a league-high 62 goals while allowing the fewest against with four. Williams is also the East Division Coach of the Year.
Humber’s Michael Aquino is the West Division Coach of the Year. The Hawks finished second in the West Division with a record of 7-1-2, allowing just seven goals against while scoring 33 times.
George Brown’s Mark Do Coito (Toronto) is the East Division Defensive Player of the Year. The third-year midfielder was a key cog in a Huskies unit which allowed just four goals against in 10 matches. Do Coito is also an East Division League First-Team All-Star.
Colin Elvie (Vittoria) of Fanshawe College is the West Division Defensive Player of the Year. The second-year defender played in 10 matches, half of which ended up as shutouts in favour of the Falcons.
The George Brown Huskies and Conestoga Condors were named the Best Defensive Teams in their respective divisions, allowing four and five goals against, respectively.
Several OCAA League All-Stars were also recognized. In addition to Nizam, Kadiebue and Elvie, West Division First-Team All-Stars include Mike D’Angelo (Guelph), Malachi Ramsay (Cambridge) and Luca Romano (Kitchener) of Conestoga; Engjell Qamili (London) of Fanshawe; Adam Czerkawski (Clarkson), Danny Medeiros (Milton) and Keegan Wilson (Toronto) of Humber; and Riley Drkulec (Lakeshore) of St. Clair.
In addition to Ball, Broomes and Do Coito, East Division First-Team All-Stars include Cristian Aviles-Molina (Ottawa) and Mecheri Mohammed Houssam (Ottawa) of Algonquin College; Deandre Branch (Oshawa), Romaine Watkis (Ajax) and Garrett Werner (Ajax) of Durham College; and Jason Alvarado (Toronto), Julian DeSousa (Toronto) and Yonis Jama (Toronto) of George Brown.
Joining Alvarado as West Division Second-Team All-Stars are Gamtessa Berehe (Kitchener) and Josip-Pavle Stojanovic (Croatia) of Conestoga; Kyle Cameron (St. Catharines) of Fanshawe; Matthew Laic (Burlington) and Luca Pinto (Toronto) of Humber; Hamza Salman (Hamilton) and Oliver Steinke (Dundas) of Mohawk College; and Patrick Maheux (Amherstburg), Ilija Pavicic (Belle River) and Massimo Pollard (Windsor) of St. Clair.
East Division Second Team All-Stars include Alessandro Vivolo (Ottawa) of Algonquin; Tenzin Chonyi (Toronto), Jaden Grant (Oshawa) and Isaiah Wisdom (Whitby) of Durham; Gianfranco Gileppo (Vaughan), Darius Kerr-Cooper (Vaughan), Daniel McIntosh (Ajax) and Adam Wood (Toronto) of George Brown; Duarte Ventura-Oliveira (Brampton) of St. Lawrence; and Atif Ali (Kenya) and Amar Dhindsa (Brampton) of Seneca College.
