CCAA Men’s Soccer Rankings Week 2
All good things must come to an end.
With that being said, it’s the best description for this week’s CCAA National Men’s Soccer rankings, given that Coach Mike Aquino’s former #1 Humber Hawks have been displaced in the top 15 for the first time in nearly 3 years. A slow start in OCAA competition with a 1-0-2 record that saw their 25 game consecutive win streak come to an end against the Fanshawe Falcons with a 2-2 tie.
Taking over the number #1 spot is Collège Ahuntsic with their co-leaders in the RSEQ with the Champlain Cavaliers of Saint-Lambert who sit at number #3. OCAA number #1 George Brown sits at number #4 after being ranked #11 the previous week, and 2022 Coach of The Year Stuart Mackie’s Conestoga Condors entering the Top 15 at number #7 after not being Nationally ranked in week #1. Coach Marc Rizzardo’s Langara College showed the greatest jump from #14 to #8 of the previously ranked teams.
New to the list this week are the St. Lawrence College Surge (Kingston, ON) coached by Carlo Canovan after their 14-0 win over Sault College following a pair of bookended wins over Cambrian College Golden shield 3-0 and 1-0.
Last week’s #5 Seneca Sting and 2022 National Finalists were the second Ontario school to drop out of the rankings. VIU sees the largest drop to remain in the top 15 from #6 to #14.
Here are the standings courtesy of the CCAA:
With 2022 National Champions being dropped from the Top 15, it means that this year’s National Championships at St. Clair College (Windsor) could be wide open affair, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves there is still plenty of ball to go and guaranteed there are going to be more shifts to come.
We’re just getting started.
Can’t wait!!
