The Mounties appear to have found their man.
Derek O’Keeffe has been named the head coach of the Mount Allison Mounties and comes to Sackville having most recently spent time in Ontario’s League 1 as the Technical Director for the Simcoe County Rovers.
Originally from Cork City, Ireland, O’ Keeffe holds a BA Hons Degree in Sports Coaching Development from the Manchester Metropolitan University. Prior to arriving in Canada in 2010, he spent time in Ireland and the United States, where he was a youth coach for the New York Red Bulls in their development system. Along with his UEFA A Coaching Licence, O’Keeffe brings his experience in Ontario soccer at the League 1 and OPDL levels, and as the former head coach of League1 Ontario’s Aurora FC entry. O’Keeffe also has a multitude of certifications in fitness and nutrition as well.
Coach O’Keeffe is “Delighted to join the Mount Allison family. An incredible university with a great reputation, I look forward to working with the athletic department to enhance soccer in both the university and the province. Proud to be a Mountie!”
We are excited to have Derek on campus as he gets ready for the Mounties Men’s Soccer training camp on August 20th said Interim Director of Athletics and Recreation Marcel Dupuis. His passion for the game is contagious and has already had a positive affect in our department.
